But before you actually invest your hard earned money in a security camera system, first you need to critically think about the area you’ll be watching and the type of security camera you need in order to watch it. The first question you should probably ask yourself is how many cameras will you be needing to cover all the areas you need to keep an eye on. Is it just one room in the house or do you want to keep an eye on the whole house and the compound?, Will you need to install some cameras on the balcony or the outside?. If you plan to keep an eye on only one room in the house then you probably need only to have one camera.

Modern security cameras are of two types – either wireless or wired. The setup you use will automatically depend on where you want to lace the cameras and how visible you want them to be. Wired security cameras are usually trickier to install as you need to make sure all the wires are in the right places and are not visible to outsiders. However, wired cameras have a higher quality picture than wireless cameras since their signals are travelling through wires and not air thus the signals are not lost.

 

 On the other hand, wireless cameras have higher flexibility, but if there are other broadcasts from other devices such as cordless phones and wireless internet, the signal can be interrupted or very weak. Another major problem of wireless cameras is that your video can be intercepted by other people. The probability that someone else somewhere is accessing the video footage from your house overrides the core purpose of the security cameras. Some vendors and manufacturers offer encrypted connections which cannot be intercepted. Cameras that are larger in size will be automatically visible, and majority of people prefer to install them in an area where people are aware they are under video surveillance or outside. There are also other cameras that are tiny and can be hidden in alarm clocks and cracks for instance.

When it comes to installation of the invisible cameras, it is advisable that at first you consult and note all the legal restrictions and terms on hidden video surveillance. In a majority of states, any person with the motive of recording either video or audio in a specific area first needs to alert anyone around the area of surveillance in range of the security camera systems that she or he is being recorded. An example of this case is, if you happen to record someone’s telephone conversation with another person except you without them knowing it, that is considered an illegal deed. When it comes to installing the tiny cameras in your house it’s good that you inform all the inhabitants of the house that there is a camera there.
